Hi. Does anyone know where 515 Coy RASC would've been based in 12/40?
I'm trying to track where my father would have been with the help of his service record.

Also, the dating system isn't what I'm used to with some of them looking like 35/40 or even 00/207/41. Is anyone able to shine some light on this also?

    Thanks, Lee

From a quick look on the Discovery site for Kew, nothing diffinitive in the way of a unit diary seems to exist as early as 1940. The earliest is something (photo?) held in the Royal Logistical Core Museum dating from 1939 then a reference to 169 Infrantry Brigade, RASC 515 Company (WO 169/4306) dated December 1942 in the Middle East series. It might be worth looking at earlier 169 Infantry Brigade diaries such as WO 166/1044 for 1940 Dec., 1941 Jan.-Dec.and if they were attached to them during this period, may well get a mention.

Also, I would suggest you post the service record, a 2nd, 3rd.... pair of eyes can often resolve the difficulties with service record entries.

    Good luck

My Father's record is shown above. All I know is that he was (probably) caught using a vehicle he shouldn't have been and fined accordingly, and later knocked from his despatch motorcycle by a lorry when convoying vehicles to waterproofing stations in the build-up to D-Day. This left his permanently unfit and he was discharged at a later date. someone told me that the 148th would have been based at OCTU Wrotham which fits with my Dad saying he used to train people to ride motorcycles, drive trucks, etc.
My father was 55 when I was born and as my 10-year-old son didn't get to meet him I'm hoping to find his locations during WW2 so we can visit these places and piece together a history for him. Any help will be gratefully received.
