    Hi
Could someone who knows please tell me what uniform patches 50 Div Signals wore ? I know the TT patch but I saw a pic of some DLI at the museum wearing the desert rat patch- would the 50 Div Signals guys have worn it ?
    Thanks
    Tim

No, they's only wear insignia of the Div they were in at the time.

A man in 50 Div would wear TT .
A man in 7th Armd Div would have Desert Rat patch.

They would not have both together.

I think it was only 9th DLI who wore the patch after October 1944 following the dissolution of 151 Brigade but I may be wrong?

    You are right, Kyle.

When 50 Div was reduced to a training cadre on circa 1 December 1944 and returned to the UK, the only two ex-50 Div Infantry battalions that remained in NW Europe were:

    1. 9th Bn Durham Light Infantry, ex-151st Infantry Brigade; and
    2. 2nd Bn Devonshire Regiment, ex-231st Infantry Brigade.

They replaced the 1/6th and 1/7th Bns Queens Royal Regiment, in 131st Infantry Brigade, 7th Armoured Division [The Desert Rats].

Therefore, the 9th Bn Durham Light Infantry would have swapped their 'TT' patch for the 'Jerboa' patch of 7th Armoured Division... no doubt reluctantly.

    Best,

    Steve.
