Well Happy belated Canada day - I think we should get Wills to run as US President and bring the Colonials Back into the Empire. . . . . . now wouldn't that be something

Now is it my fault you Blessed Canucks can't do your own self-promotion? :D

The best that can be had as regards your image is the old Lumbejack Song cliché (here but with a difference  )

And I didn't see anyone cheering for the June 10th! So there!

David - Stars and Stripes, RAF ensign AND your own airfield????
I also can see why you moved.

To quote from 'The Great Escape',
"Ah, so how are you getting on over there without us?"
I think we know the answer!

    Za,

The only reason the Germans have any knowledge of the lumberjack trade was because they surrendered! They learned it all here while wearing large, circular targets on the back of their coats.

Randy and I expected that the learned, sophisticated and worldly wise Za would have known that colonials occupying the northern half of the continent are not prone to overt, chest thumping and crass displays of nationalism. We save that for ice hockey and beavers!!

But, if you insist, this gentleman feels somewhat more demonstrative.

NO that wouldn't be alright. The back taxes we'd owe would be astronomical. Well, maybe el presidente could raise the debt ceiling again or print some more greenbacks....

The fireworks in my neighborhood were unbelievable and I am not talking about dinky little bottle rockets and a handful of firecrackers. We sat out in lawn chairs and watched the various shows my neighbors were putting on. Some of them were huge, almost like what you would see at a public event. There were five groups around us that were trying to outdo each other. They were rattling our windows from a hundred yards away. There is no telling what they some of them spent, probably more than $500-1000 each at the minimum.

Usually, we'll ease over to the clubhouse. It is on the bluffs overlooking the nearby large city across the river and we can sit out on the deck and watch the fireworks at the airbase, which is about 15 miles away. But because of the drought, they were cancelled.

We could hear the professional fireworks show over in the nearby town, about 8 miles away as the crow flies in the other direction, but could not see them because of the hills. It originally was also cancelled, due to the drought, but several timely rainstorms this week allowed the show to go on.

Ok. We'll meet half-way. I accept you are Colonials but not of the Damned variety. Will this do as a matter of principle? :D

    I can live with that!

I must confess to be ill-mannered in my waving of the Maple Leaf. I totally forgot to wish our American friends a Happy July 4th. So, belatedly, best wishes to all in the U.S. of A.

What about the animals? We have very strict laws regarding fireworks. Only on 5th November and in one or two venues organised by professionals. No private individuals are allowed to buy.
