I've been working through my paybooks to wounded men trying to put into context where they were when wounded and what their units were doing and in most I have managed to at least get a rough idea but I'm struggling with 5 so I'm hoping fellow members can help (War Diaries would be ideal) - so here goes, looking for info on 472 Battery of 75th Searchlight Regiment RA on 8/10/40 when J C Bray was wounded, I think somewhere near London Thanks Alistair p.s. apologies that the basics of the posts will be cut and paste
1st AA Division Diary WO166-2106 AA COMMAND AA DIVISIONS Headquarters 1 Anti-Aircraft Division, General (HQ G) 01 June 1940 - 31 December 1940 In location statements for the 3rd and 30th October, gives 472 Battery at Addington Palace Golf Club, Near Croydon I'll have to trawl through other 1st AA Division and Brigade diaries to see if I can find any mention of a likely incident
Ideal, just trying googling things just now to see if I can find any more, I've had a quick look at bomb maps and can see a few hits in the area. If its an easy trawl I'd appreciate it, if it's a lot of effort then I'd leave it - this is a decent start to narrow down the details and add a little to my notes Thanks again
Hi Nothing that I can see in either the brigade or division diaries that gives any clue to what may have happened in the vicinity on that date. Although difficult in the circumstances maybe try these two diaries at Kew for the SL Regiment and Battery itself? The SL Regiment diary would probably be one for my list in the future.
