All I can come up with is that the 46 Squadron attachment at Bersis closed on 11 November 1943 and on the 17th the St. Jean attachment also closed. A detachment was formed at Cairo West. The main base of operations at that time was Idku - Edku (not sure of the spelling) I can find no mention of Ops around the 14th, but that's not to there were none. there was a detachment operating out of Lakatamia at this time. The only other info I can add is that 46 squadron had finished in their nightfighter role and had moved to coastal work.

    Regards

I'm coming here after a considerable gap, but 14th November 1943 was a significant day for 46 Squadron: they lost two Beaufighters and their crew during the battle for the Island of Leros, one shot down in flames and another missing presumed dead - no one ever knew what happened to them. I am currently writing up my father's memoirs, to be published early next year, and it will feature this incident, in which he took part, and 46 Squadron in particular. I'm intrigued to know what your interest might be in this unsung Squadron?
