    -

    3. INTERROGATION after capture:
Were you specially interrogated by the enemy? (State where, when and methods employed by enemy).

Yes at PERVERANU 30/10/44. We (3 Germans and I) were sat round a table and after discussing personal matters, questioned me about the operation in which I was caught. When I refused them, said "It doesn't matter we really know everything we are just trying to make polite conversation." I replied if you know everything then there is no need to ask me questions whereupon I was marched to a cell and locked up by myself until the interrogation of my friends was finished.

Did yo make any attempted or partly successful escapes? (Give details of each attempt accurately, stating where, when, method employed, names of your companions, wherein when recaptured and by whom. Were you physically fit? What happened to your companions?)

The main subject the whole time was escape, the only problem was the boat. By the end of March everything was ready but difficulties arose, we were only two English amongst 10 Greeks. The Greek officer and two other 2Lt VYAS & Sgts. B??AS and SOFFOUS, were discovered making plans for themselves alone when it was decided we should all go but they had informed the captain of the kayak that only three were willing to chance it. The escape was postponed and shortly after another Greek officer and 5 ORs arrived. The two officers decided to go and promised if they were successful in reaching SCIME [?] (our base at the time) they would send a boat back for us. The escape was successful.
On 13/4/45 Captain WOODWARD and 10 English ranks were captured in a kayak and Captain WOODWARD and I were constantly planning escaper all, when we were released.

Most of our work was at COSCHINO and there was no chance of large scale sabotage. We did however when the opportunity occurred put grave in petrol tanks of lorries, etc.
