    Hi everyone,

I am researching George Baldwin, who died on D-Day and although I have found information on his tragic family after his death, when his wife remarried, I cannot find any information for certain on George Baldwin, as there are so many of them, one which may be likely, is and Edward & Julia BALDWIN, but as you can see the CWGC have his father's initials as "J."

Quarter (Jul, Aug, Sept.), but the time allowed to register after a birth was, I think 6 weeks, so that would make it OK.

According to the UK, British Army World War II Medal Cards, 1939-1945 on Ancestry, his medals were claimed for on 2 Nov 1949 and sent to 9. Laidler Street, Shotton Colliery Co. Durham.

    Hope this helps

Thank you both so much. Another query is why wasn't his wife Mary Jane BALDWIN, mentioned on the CWGC citation? I thought that by the CWGC people contacted his parents Mary Jane had remarried and the children were dead. She had moved on so they didn't mention her? Although one child Julia Baldwin survived. Please read the newspaper cuttings, there are more. Thanks again, Mavis

Thank you Cee, he is on the Bayeux Memorial. I need to find out more about him as a man and boy, so he will be remembered, not just as a Surname and Christian name or initial. Need to find his mother & father, and siblings if he had any, but Mr & Mrs J. BALDWIN is not much of a clue. Thank you though for your input, much appreciated.

The newspaper cutting below, tells the story of what happenned to his children 3 years after he was killed.

    Regards, Mavis

    JohnG505 Getting there......

    Hi Mavis,

Find My Past may be able to help with researching his family. If I remember rightly, it should be free this weekend, with it being Remembrance weekend.

    Regards.

Thank you John, I have Find my Past anyway and it was on there that I found Find a Grave, which showed the gravestone for the children and much more on everyone, except George, and as it's really his story I want to tell, it's frustrating to hit such a big wall! It also shows that many families went through more hell after the war, picking up the peices of their lives. Thank you so much for your input.
    Kindest regards, Mavis
