I am trying to track down any leads for family connections of the following pilot. I have checked the normal family sites and nothing comes up. I can only locate his DFC citation in the LG. Any help would be gratefully received!

Distinguished Flying Cross. Acting Squadron Leader David Beatty HODGKINSON (41410) Reserve of Air Force Officers, No. 179 Squadron. One night in September, 1943, this officer captained an aircraft which successfully attacked a U-boat in the Mediterranean sea. Despite heavy anti-aircraft fire from the submarine's guns, Squadron Leader Hodgkinson pressed home his attack with accuracy and determination. This officer has completed numerous sorties and has displayed inspiring leadership, great courage and devotion to duty.

    Thanks

    Danny,

His name and number have not appeared here before your post.

Many squadron ORB (similar to a War Diary) are available online at the TNA. Otherwise it may be a long wait, not as long as the Army, for a reply from RAF Disclosures. Search for them , there was thread update about them this year.

If you search online with: "179 Squadron" site:ww2talk.com a small number of threads appear.
