    Thanks Tomcat.

My mate who lives in Virginia has a 303. When I last spoke to him i asked him where he thought he was going to get ww2 british amunition from. he said

"from the big pallet of the stuff you walk past to get into Wallmart"

    of course...

US made ammunition box marked for .303" Mk. VIIz BALL SAA. Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRA in the Lot Number).

I have two of these boxes that my Dad gave me. He got them somewhere shortly after the War. These are the only two .303" marked U.S. issue ammunition boxes I have ever seen.

Steel .303" Mk. VII Ball SAA chest. Originally dated 1945, but re-marked 1977. I think this chest contained two wood boxes of SAA, which I do not have*.

    * I do have one of the wooden inner boxes, but it has been re-marked with 1960's era South African markings.
