I tried to do a little searching on google, and I think I found some information to help your search.

There's a little article here related to the "301/127 (H) Fld Regt RA". (Field Regiment Royal Artillery. I don't know what the H stands for - Highland?) which seems to indicate 301 Battery was part of 127th RA Regiment, which was part of 51st Highland Infantry Division.

    127(HD) FIELD REGIMENT RA 1942 - 1945 | Account | 51st Highland Division Website

Phil ("op-ack" here on ww2talk) wrote an explanation of how battery numbers got combined in this thread:

"In 1938 a number of Batteries within the RA and RHA were combined, they retained their Battery numbers/letters in a combined title, thus A Battery RHA was linked with E Battery RHA to become A/E Battery RHA. Such batteries were known as Linked Batteries."

1933-1945 Battery & Regt. numbering RA

But it seems like most references to the regiment drop the 301 and just refer to 127 Field Regiment. But I seem to getting many more search "hits" by searching for it, and for the 51st Highland Division.

    Regards,
    Chris
