From 2733019 Ernest George READ, 2 Welsh Guards

Died 16/03/1945 ; husband of Florence May Read, of Acton, Middlesex.
Buried at KERESLEY (ST. THOMAS) CHURCHYARD
    Location: Warwickshire, United Kingdom

I noticed that the inscription on his CWGC link reads:
ALSO IN MEMORY OF HIS BROTHERS-IN-LAW TOM, BILLY AND JOHN LENTON KILLED ON ACTIVE SERVICE

Having searched all records for the surname, I think the CWGC info below is correct

Father Arthur Lenton born Aug 1879; mother Hepzibah, father Thomas in 1881; George in 1891, same wife!. Living Keresley, Foleshill, Warwickshire. Sons Thomas Arthur (5) and Arthur William (newborn) in 1911 Census with sister Gertrude Amy (3). (Albert John not born until 1918 so not in Census records.)
Wife Charlotte Ann (nee Kenning, father Joseph) aged 28, so presumably married at least 6 years. (7 Jan 1906)
To lose 2 sons so soon must have been hard, especially as the AMPC seem to have been second line Territorials not trained or equipped as front line soldiers.
There may be details in the 7th Bn Warwicks War Diary, but events at the time may have been too chaotic for it to have survived and may have been reconstructed back in England later....
Then the younger son and his brother in law just a month apart at the end of the War.....

Thanks Guy for the newspaper articles - especially interesting to see that Guardsman Read was repatriated. Seeing that all three of his widow's brothers died overseas, it's understandable she wished their service recorded on her husband's headstone - his was at least one grave she could visit.
It's a shame the brothers' pages aren't 'linked' on CWGC website, particularly with Thomas not even having a NOK recorded.

Have requested CWGC link these family members -BUT only on their website, as headstone changes a) take longer and b) not really necessary, as if mentioned on website surely people will know what is what.

    Response from CWGC regrets that
Only relatives of war casualties can request additions and amendments to our non-core data for example forenames, age, and additional information and linking brothers. If you are a member of the family and have supporting linking information do please submit your documents and we will amend our records and add these details to our records.

If in future any relative comes across this thread, they can decide whether to request a link - or not.
