Hi all, While I should be doing my uni work, I have digressed and come across relative (Still need to confirm) that was killed in Libya in 1943. He was with 21 Battalion CWGC record here CWGC :: Casualty Details He is only in the Roll of Honour in the 21 Battalion Official History with incorrect spelling of his Surname, they have it as 'BRADLEY'. Does anyone have experience with the Unit diaries that are held at Archives New Zealand? Do they contain the circumstances regarding deaths? and are unit rosters contained within the diaries, i.e what company he was in? Any help gratefully accepted
Hi Andy if he served with 2 nzef in libya then he would have been in the same area at the same time as my grand father... If you could give me his name etc I could look through the info I have? Also have u thought about applying for his war service file? Kind regards Regan Harris
Hi Regan, Thanks for your offer, but it turns out he isn't a relative...oh well. At this time I unfortunately don't have the time to follow this research up but will do in the future. For your records Regan his name is DAVID EDWIN BRADLY of 21 Battalion.
My father was also in Libya in 1943. I have his 1943 diary which I'm about to start transcribing/translating.
Unit diaries do not have individual personnel details, unless for a specific reason, and deal with the daily operations and orders of the unit. Check out the diaries online at the AWM and it will give you an idea of the content. Spider
