My father is in some photo's of the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, I'm led to believe in India. Has anyone any info of when they were there or any other info on the regiment in WW2.
    Regards
    Jim.

I believe the 2nd Wilts escaped from Dunkirk with the 2nd Division, which went out to India from there. I hope that helps.

Good luck with your quest, and thank you for joining us and for your father's service to Crown and Country.

I was given the wrong info by a family member and these photo's are in India but in the late 1920s. I have printed what was on the back on the front from those with writing. It now seems my father was in the 44th L.AA. R.A in WW2 and was entitled to wear the Burma Star. I have been given his service book which is very battered, I have scanned it and will upload it if anyone could help with the info in it I would be grateful.
    Regards
    Jim

Nice pictures, Jim, especially with the vintage signalling equipment. I can't offer to help with decoding the Service record, but I am incurably nosey so I'd love to see it !

I'm sure that the knowledge will be here to decipher it.

    Rich.

This is the battered Service Book of my father, what I would like to find out where he was in 1944. There is more to it but with next of kin details etc. Why some of the dates have been altered I don't know. He died in his sleep on Christmas Day in 1973. I was scanning the book etc and my 9 year old grandson asked about him dying I told him he went to sleep and didn't wake up and he replied "So he's having a never ending dream then ", never thought of it like that.
Are there any other documents I can get to find out where he was in 1944. As stated he was in Barrackpore in January 1944 and he had an injection in the June of 1944, but was he still in Barrackpore. I know he had injuries from an explosion and he went deaf for approx 2 years, and he may have been in hospital in the Cardiff area. But I don't know the dates.

If you give the info to the museum our volunteer researchers will do the work for you.
