I am researching a man that enlisted in March 1939 and he joined the 2nd RWR. On September 23rd 1939 he was sent to France where his service papers record him as being "Attached to No 1 Infantry Base Depot Echelon No 2". He was then posted to the 2nd RWR on February 2nd 1940. Could anyone please translate what would have happened to him from the time he arrived in France until he joined the 2nd RWR in February 1940?
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi,

With almost 6 months service there he may have been on the permanent staff of the Infantry Base Depot in any one of a variety of roles.
