Hello everyone, I am looking through a service record at the moment and on 13/01/40 it states the individual was posted to the 2nd Battalion P.L.H Regt at Northwood ... Does anyone know what the P.L.H (possibly P.L.K) stands for? Many thanks, Skip
Another mystery (I'm not Artillery minded!) - The same man was later posted to '2 A.A "Z" TENG Bty' - anyone any idea what the significance of the "Z" and 'TENG' is? Cheers, Skip
Owen - Many thanks for that - YES - Princess Louise's - just looked them up for 1940 and they were at Northwood. Makes sense as his parent Regt had been The Middlesex in 1938. Were they their own regiment then or part of the Middlesex Regt? Just need to know whether they were one in the same? Idler - thanks for your interest - scan is attached (I hope!) Cheers Skip
I think you've cracked it! Well done, Owen. 2 Kensington were indeed in Northwood from Dec 39 - Jan 40. TENG is TRNG - Training.
Z Battery. Z Battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Z Battery was a short range AA weapon which launched 3-inch diameter rockets, used in ground-based single and multiple launchers for the air defence of the United Kingdom in World War II.
Well... 'Z' could just be a designation in the same way that the Royal Horse Artillery had lettered (not numbered) batteries, e.g. K Bty. Or - more interestingly - it could be a Training Battalion for the Z Batteries. The timescale fits.
The Regiments history has them moving from the East End to Northwood in Dec 39 and moved to Royal Wanstead School near Epping Forest on 18th Jan 40.
