    Hello,

I've read with great interest a 2013 thread about the death of Cptn. Chell and events in the Thury-Harcourt and River Orne areas. It shows War Diaries of 8-12th August. Capt. Chell saved my father's life on D-Day as they landed as an early Beaching Party at Le Hamel, Gold Beach.
Posters were Sean P Connolly 007 and Steve Mac (TT).

I'm interested to know whether the owner of these war diaries or copies, 'Combover', has pages of the next few days. My father, Les, 'Titch' Holden was injured badly at Esson on 14th so his wartime activities were then over.

Does anyone have precise details of the whereabouts of a ravine/ very steep path down to a stream that had to be crossed, in the Bas Breuill/ Bresnil Forest north of Thury? My father and L/C Charlie Gardener towed some heavy anti-tank guns down and up, in the dark, lit only by soldiers with glowing cigarettes.

We did find it in 1984, with Dad, and took photos, but no longer have a marked map of the spot.

Would love to know and return to visit again.
    Many thanks
