    hi can anyone help?
    i am researching a relative of mine who was unfortunate to be kiiled in 23/06/44.
    His name was George Brueton and served in the 2nd b/n the royal warwicks.
    i have his records but they say little and is mostly in codes, i also have the war diaires for the days around his death, it narrows him down to possibly be in a carrier platton or c company.
    can anyone help with maybe deciphering his records or shed any more info on him or any unit?
    any help would be greatly appreciated i have planned to go to his grave in the summer at La delivrande cemetery would love to know more.
    :)
    thanks Jason

    his attestation says 16/01/39 army number 5110551. he was then sent to france 23/09/39 and returned 31/05/40. from then till 03/06/44 he was at home. from 40 till 42 he was on home guard, i assume from 42 on he was in training for d-day?? there are a lot of codes all around these dates and then it stops 23/06/44 k-i-a such a shame after surving the BEF and Dunkirk??

    Hi I saw action with the Warwick's. Obviously I do not know the man you are seeking info on. But I can tell you they were fine soldiers and respected!
    They were in the "Follow up Brigade" that is 185 Brigade. With the Royal Norfolk's and the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. They saw a great deal of action. WE ferried them in Holland.

    Here's something he would have most likely been involved in:

    Wormhout

    The Battalion had a hard time of it in France during 1940.

    My mistake-I can see he did deploy on the 2nd page.

    I can see he lost 3 days pay for be absent for a few days in 1944.

    not sure where he disapeard to, possibly to see his wife and daughter as he knew he would soon be of to France...possibly??
    i am in contact with his daughter but she was only born in 42 and her mom spoke very little of her father which was a shame. i only have the one picture of him on his wedding. his wife died in 88.

    RHU = Reinforcement Holding Unit

    Interesting to see copies of the war diaries, I printed these transcribed ones off when I went to Normandy last October. From 6 - 30 June '44.
