    Hi all,
Dave has asked if I would put this question out for him as he is temporarily 'internet free'.
According to the records, 17 men of 2 Para managed to escape from Arnhem and were rejoined with the seaborne echelon at Nijmegen. One was Den Portman and in Robert Peatling's book he describes the moving scene when the survivors are told to 'fall in' for parade.
Dave's question is "Is there a list of names of the other men that escaped?" I've been through Peatling's book with no joy.
    All the best.......:)

I have just read on Pegasus Archive that the letter T.W sent out, went to love ones whos men never came home, well that cant ring true, as Ralph got back as did Harry Marshall.Again, I am here to be educated, my research is throwing more questions than answers, but I am loving every minute of it. Any explanation out there please.

There is a list of prisoners in Peatlings book "Without Tradition" but there is no Baverstock on it I'm afraid mate . The list documents 96 men but these were the UN-WOUNDED survivors. This number is confirmed by the following line taken from Tatham-Warter's report:

"Of the 2nd Battalion approximately 350 had reached the Bridge, of this number 210 were wounded, many of whom had fought on to the end, in spite of their wounds. It is not possible to estimate the number killed, but I know of approximately 100 taken prisoner unwounded."

Here is the page from Peatlings book.

    All the best..........:)

The reason I asked about the prisoner list stems from the TW cover letter he sent out, was wondering that Ralph may of been taken prisoner and then escape, but he didnt get home until after the TW letter was sent to my Gran

    Hello mate,

There are numeous diagrams in various books showing the positions of the units around the bridge on the 17th/18th. The link below to Mark Hickmans site gives a good idea.
