    Good morning all!

Another war memorial individual – Lewis Denner. Once again, I’ve been able to piece together a fairly comprehensive back story regarding his pre-war life, and have also put together some detail regarding his brief war-time career, but would be grateful for anything anyone else can add.

Here’s what I know regarding his military service…

Born in 1899, Lewis Denner was conscripted in 1917 (Devonshire Regt.), though heart irregularities during training led to him being confined to home service only.

Finding employment with Rowe and Co. Ltd in 1919 he was appointed to their colonial department store in Rangoon, where he arrived in late 1920.

Received commission (2nd Lt) into Army of Burma Reserve of Officers on 23 March 1942 and died of heart failure on 2 June 1942. Buried Calcutta (Bhowanipore) Cemetery.

    Thanks so much everyone.
