Hi all im looking for some help please, im trying to find out where abouts battery served during the war from 1940 onwards. Its for my father in law whos dad served with them during that period. We have his service record which shows he was in Eygpt, sicily and the other 2 places we cant read.
I have for the refeance numbers for the war diaries in kew, but going there would be a last resort at the moment. Does anyone know of anywhere there would be information about them online. The only metion i can find is in wiki, which shows the 88HAA involved in the 2nd battle of el alamein.
What im trying to do is plot their movements on a map for him and show him what battles his dad was involved in.
Any help or advise would be wonderful.
    many thanks Andy

Hi and welcome to the forum, a few members on here could help with getting war diaries from Kew, I'm sure they'll be along soon.
    Good luck with your research.

There are 7 diaries for this unit held at the National Arcives covering the periods mentioned above.

Let me know if you want a copy of any of them.

Thanks Andy would love for u to copy them, could you give me a idea on how much it would cost? Probably would have to do them bit by bit, as just like everyone cash is abit tight at the moment :)

And thanks Ron i read through that and i also found the main website for it, im now just trying to work out if he was there at the same time.

I dont know if this will help anyone ( not sure if this has been posted on here before) i found this by mistake. Whilst having google earth open i clicked on a link ( http://s192798389.websitehome.co.uk/urbex/ww2sites.kmz )

on a different forum and low and behold google earth pops up with all the HAA batteries, decoy airfields, army decoy sites etc plotted on it. Hope fully i can link some of his uk posting to some of these areas.

    Once again guys many thanks.
