2738850 Guardsman Christopher John KEOGH, 3rd Battalion WELSH GUARDS

    28th may 1944. Mt. PICCOLO, Map Ref 657294, Sheet 160/IV, 1/25,000, ITALY.

During the attack on Mt. PICCOLO this Guardsman while under fire took and L.M.G. from a wounded comrade and advanced towards an enemy M.G. post firing from the hip. He was struck twice by splinters in the face and the foot and was twice blown away from his gun by the blast of grenades.

He was ordered to retire, but insisted on staying all night in the Company position, refusing to go sick. His personal bravery and dash was exemplary and he greatly helped to maintain the impetus of the attack.

    Granted an Immediate M.M.
