    On 15 Aug 44 I escaped from working camp 107 Gratz by slipping away from a working part in the fields. I was accompanied by Dvr. J. BIDHOFF? & went to MARBURG where we were recapture on 18 Aug 44. We were taken back to Stalag 18A where we were sentence to 21 days, water & bread.
    On 24 Apr 45 the whole of Gratz working camp was evacuated by Gerry on a march to Stalag 15b in the evening while marching I escaped in the dark & remained in hiding until 8 May 45 when I contacted Russian troops at PLANKENWOTES, arriving at NAPLES on 24 May 45.
