    ESCAPED ON THE 28/8/42 FROM "KONTIZ" WEST PRUSSIA. NO SPECIAL METHOD EMPLOYED. ACCOMPANIED BY PTE. DUNCAN WILSON, 5TH BATT GORDONS. 15/8/42 RECAPTURED BY GERMAN CIVILIANS. WE WERE BOTH PHYSICALLY FIT. PUNISHED BY 21 DAYS CONFINEMENT.

    THE DEATH OF ONE "PTE. CHESHIRE" CHESHIRE REGT. WHO WAS BEATEN TO DEATH BY ARMED GERMAN GUARDS, ON THE LINE OF MARCH FROM WEST PRUSSIA, ON THE 31/1/45. BODY LEFT BY THE ROADSIDE.
    ALSO "PTE. POCKLINGTON K" LINC. REGIMENT DIED IN A RAILROAD WAGON THROUGH INADEQUATE MEDICAL TREATMENT ON THE 24/2/45.
