During the action on the above-mentioned feature he heard there were 4 casualties lying on the forward slope in full view of the enemy. Undeterred he led his Stetcher Bearers down, dressed the wounds of the casualties and organised and assisted their removal to the Regimental Aid Post. Then during intense shelling he again led his Stretcher Bearers over the exposed forward slope to a gully at the bottom where he picked up a wounded COLDSTREAM Guardsman and a German. These incidents were after 24 hours of almost continuous stretcher work up and down the mountainsides, and the fine example of leadership which he displayed is worth of the highest commendation.
