    Wendy,
Great photos. The artillery piece looks like it came from WW1. Any ideas as to model, type or calibre?

Thanks again for posting these photos Wendy, great view into the past :)
Randy I think that piece maybe a WWI German 77mm Field gun. Had a quick nosey on google and it looks fairly similar.

Sorry Owen, that's all there was from Egypt. I have other photos but they have no label as to where they were taken or in some cases who the person is in the photo, so not much use in posting them.

    Sol - you're welcome.

    Wendy

Or maybe we can take a shot at placing them :)

Andy, more likely Italian at that period, no? Besides the standard light arty piece for the Germans was the 10.5cm howitzer, they didn't take much captured equipment to Africa and I've never seen any mention of the 7.7cm

I can see that little had changed in Egypt between 1940, when yours were taken, and my visit to Alexandria & Cairo in August 1944.

In fact, I think the lad on the mule was the same one that sold me an over-ripe banana :)

    Thanks for the posting !

Very probable Za, To be honest Italian hadn't crossed my mind (silly me!) lol but it does of course make the most sense.
The canon looks like the one in the picture (attached)

    http://sill-www.army.mil/famag/1945/NOV_1945/NOV_1945_PAGES_663_671.pdf

It states it to be an Italian 77/28 with old Austrian wheels.

    Nice photographs Wendy.

    Regards
    Tom
Agree Smudger, along with Za's summation I would say you have that one bang on.

Tom - Glad the photos brought back some memories for you, even if it wasn't your favourite person because he sold you an over ripe banana!
(hope you didn't pay too much)

Tom ?..................... methinks you meant Ron (as a penance there's an Alexandria/Banana pic below for you) :)

Who am I to talk ?

Just had a look at my posting and see that I typed Alexander when I obviously meant Alexandria !

Forgive me if I now go back & alter the stupid error :)
