I have been informed that Sandra North's Will mentions only one child, a girl named Alice. If this is correct then the only possible Alice North is the third one down in this list of Alice Norths whose births were registered between 1939 and 1952. Alice North was born in 1944 and her birth was registered in Bootle. The Meltom Mowbray connection between Albert Griggs and Sandra M North would appear to be a coincidence. Births Jun 1939 North Alice M Webb Rotherham 9c 946 Births Dec 1939 NORTH Alice V Overbury Stepney 1c 289 Births Mar 1944 North Alice North Bootle 8b 433 Births Sep 1952 NORTH Alice SMITH Rowley R. 9b 436 The 'Bootle' Alice North could have been born as early as December 1943 but not registered until January 1944.
My mistake but the will mentions a daughter, Angela not Alice. Sorry for the confusion. So if we have the right family Angela would be granddaughter of Gunner Griggs.
This blog piece might be of interest to those who follow the 23rd Long Range Penetration Brigade. It also contains a link to my father’s IWM interviews: Football For The Troops: World War Two Memories - Football For The Troops: World War Two Memories - University of Wolverhampton
That's a nice little piece Weiler. I like the different angle the blog covers. Topical as well with all the hoo-ha re: The Super League.

Following up my earlier posts on my Dad, I have just uncovered a book of photos he put together on his time in India and Burma. There is a wonderful ‘team’ photo of the 237 Battery 60 Field Regiment RA taken in Khunti in Sept 1942: I’ll post some ‘action’ shots separately.
There are 4 pages of photos titled ‘Naga Hills April - August 1944’ which covers my Dad’s main Chindit operation. I’ll post these in turn. Here’s the first:
The rest of the album includes: * Bulford - 4 Field Training Regt RA April - July 1940 * Bangalore 1942 * Ranchi 1942 with 5 Div * Chhipodahar Jan/Feb 1943 * Patrikota April-June 1943 * Bangalore July - Sept 1943 Let me know if any of these are of any interest.
Great photos Weiler. You may wish to view (if you have not already) this thread on the forum, which began around 5 years or so ago: Chindit Unit ID
