He was in the British Army so it's Pte not Pvt.
    Edited thread title.
    Pvt is American.

(sorry one of my pet hates , it brings out the need to correct it.)

23rd August, 1st Gordons reached Lisieux and were ordered to advance to some high ground beyond the town. One company lost 40 casualties. 1st Gordons moved to an area South-east of Lisieux.

Remind me next week-I'm pretty sure I've got the battalion war diary for 1944.

I don't have a phone line yet in my new house so comms is as reliable as the British Army's at the moment. Most of the stuff I do on here now is via work PC.

Ps Remind me again next week

No , I quoted his post so he will get a notification as I know some less active members don't understand how the forum works.
As the OP will get notifications they will see info they may have missed .
The OP has indeed been on the forum last week but as far as I know they haven't seen the war diary pages that Drew posted.

OP = Original or opening poster.

I have emailed/contacted by PM etc other members in the past about info that has been posted that they may have missed.
I saw the OP on the forum the other day & thought if I quoted their post they might come back to the thread.

To be fair, I travelled 400 miles in my car, driving on average between 7 and 9 hours to copy that war diary so a 'Thanks' would have been appreciated

Hi Drew and other , Apologies for the late response.

Great info, and helps me build a bigger picture of what went on. I started writing about Pte taylor's brother and how he saved a crashed airman from a plane, I found out his brother was killed in action so wanted to get some info on that part.

    Cheers
