I'm quite late to this party, but I was wondering how you match Serial 21 to LCT 712 Michel? I'm not doubting it, but amongst all the many files I have I can't make that connection. 18 to 892 fits with the array of matching accounts, but I can't find anything to connect 21 to 712. I have no doubt I'm missing something obvious though!

Edit: Is it the reference to one dead soldier on board at the end of the timeline of events?

Actually, with a bit more working out, I think there’s a pattern to Group 3Bs serial numbers and fleet numbers. It appears Brigadier Leicester was on LCT 812 and Lt Col Hope was on 976. These would correspond with Serials 22 (4 SS TAC HQ) and 23 (4 SS HQ) respectively. That would give us this pattern:

506 being 20 fits with 47 Commando’s report that serial 20 was hit on the starboard side, and the naval report that 506 was hit on starboard bow.

There’s probably a better forum page for this though.

  3. Hi Steve,

Sorry, this research on Pendant-Serial matches for INFATUATE II dates back to 2010 and I'm afraid I did not document the results as well as I should have. Checking now, I could not find an obvious link either, so I suspec it was another case of cross referencing many different documents. In any case the match LCT 712 = Serial 21 is certain.

That's why I am now to trying to write down the process when searching for such links for NEPTUNE...

I can't see what you are talking about. Please elaborate.

  4. Yes, that's the link for 712, but I think there is confirmation of this somewhere.

Before I get too carried away, is there a more appropriate thread? I can't see one, so it might be best if I start one specifically on Infatuate LTINs?

  6. You can start a new thread, but if you only want the Serials/Pendants matches, here is what I have. The "?" denotes at least some measure of remaining doubt (i.e. not fully confirmed):

    1 LCI(S) 538
    2 LCI(S)
    3 LCI(S)
    4 LCT 1005
    5 LCT 737
    6 LCT 650
    7 LCT 513
    8 LCT 980
    9 LCT 952
    10 LCT 960
    11 LCT 979
    12 LCT 532
    13 LCT 1133
    14 LCT 1132
    15 LCT 1109
    16 LCT 839
    17 LCT 789
    18 LCT 892
    19 LCT 961 ?
    20 LCT 506 ?
    21 LCT 712
    22 LCT 812 ?
    23 LCT 976 ?
    24 LCT 944 ?
    25 LCT 864
    26 LCT 528 ?
    27 LCT 1068 ?
    28 LCT 1020 ?
    29 LCT 611 ?
    30 LCT 469
    31 LCT 7011
    32 LCT 324
    33 LCT 1022

The remaining craft apparently did not have a Serial.

    Michel
