Hi all. I am researching my step mum's uncle in the hope that I can compile a book of information for Christmas for her. I am trying to find out as much as I can about 221 squadron, specifically Marcus Barker, who was killed 2/2/1943 Malta. I have requested his records today, so might be in for a long wait, but in the mean time, is there anywhere I can find the war diaries relating to his movements?? I'm not very RAF savvy, any help would be gratefully received, many thanks
Wellington HX398 missing from attack on convoy off Cape Stilo. Took off from Luqa. the squadron ORB is open for viewing and download at The National Archives. I suggest download the Summary of events and Record of events for Feb 43 as a taster Squadron Number: 221 Summary of Events: Y | The National Archives Squadron Number: 221 Records of Events: Y | The National Archives Once you have his record of service then you will know how far to go back to view his operations before the final fatal flight.
