Hello Everyone, This is a very interesting thread, thankyou. My father served in 220 Field Company as a Sergeant Major, from 3rd Sept 1939 and was "released" in Nov 1945. He did keep a notebook diary but it stops during the fighting in Italy. I have found a newspaper clipping that mentions the Garigliano river. I've attached, hope you find it interesting?

Thank you for posting the newspaper clipping.

Did your father ever mention that CR Milne was a young officer in his Fd Coy?

    Regards

Hi Frank,Yes in fact he did, I've not thought about this for years. I'll have to paraphrase, he said he was friendly chap but wanted to distance himself from the Christopher Robin character.

My Great Grandad was a Sapper, and served in the 220 Field Company. We are currently trying to find out any information regarding their time in Trieste. I don't suppose anyone has any details, or could point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Not Trieste but I know about their involvement in the crossing of the Garigliano in Jan 44.

    Regards
