Hi, I'm recently found my grandfathers discharge card from the war. Apart from the battalion and regiment number it doesn't give any information of his service. So far I've only found one piece of information on the 71st LAA stating that they were in the Netherlands in 1944. Would anyone happen to have anymore information about the 71st or have any ideas where I could find out anything else? I never knew my grand father as he died when my mother was young so I'd like to find out as much as possible about his service. Thanks
Hi Jonesy Apply for his service record first - https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records Then you will know if he was with the 71st for the full time or not. After finding that out, there are people here who can look up battalion war diaries for each regiment he was in, then you will know where he was and what happened. Just google 71st LAA - I found this - http://www.pymes75.plus.com/history/wwii_uk2nd.htm regards Robert
