    Hi,
I am trying to find information on my grandfather, 953518 Seageant William Bell, he was employed as a Flight Engineer serving with No. 207 Squadron RAF, which was operating with Bomber Command and based at Station Langar, Barstone, near Nottingham. On 24th October 1942 he was detailed to take part in a daylight operation against Milan in Lancaster Bomber Mark1 serial number W4121 EM-B. He was killed.

I would love to hear from anyone with information about him or anyone who knew him.

Susan, get hold of "The Bomber Command War Diaries" by Martin Middlebrook, which lists nearly every mission Bomber Command flew. That will at least give you details on your grandfather's final mission. Welcome aboard! :)

Two web sites that might produce some clues (if you haven't already been down that route):

    BBC 'We'll Meet Again'

    207 Sqn RAF Association

    Good luck
