2818135 Pte Alexander McColl ,Seaforth Highlanders was killed in action on 8th April 1943 . What I was attempting to confirm was , could he have been killed during the attacks on the Marith Line and Wadi Akarit ?He is buried at Sfax Cemetery. Casualty
Pte McColl was from Glasgow but newspapers online has nothing on him. Can anyone comment on that? I find it easy to track first world war casualties on newspapers online ,but WW2 casualties are not so easy to search.
On 6th April 5th Camerons were to take the left hand half of the Roumana feature (Wadi Akarit) 5th Seaforth were to take the right hand half with 2nd Seaforth to follow them and swing through them to attack Pt. 112, an isolated feature to the North of the Roumana hill. 5th Cams and 5th Seaforth played each other at Football on the 9th of April. It would suggest that your man possibly died of wounds after the fighting of 6th/7th April.
