Hello everyone. I wasn't sure where to post this item. Has anyone ever come across the comment 'Statement in B/M's' in a Missing Men file? I found it in WO 361/ 847 and have posted one of the the pages on which it was made. The statement isn't in File WO 361/847 so where is it? Regards, Vitellino
Hi Vitellino, I've seen this statement, or similarly worded phrases on many pages in other WO361 files. Sadly, very often one page will suggest that other following pages exist, but these pages do not turn up in the file. It is excruciatingly frustrating. Attached is an example of a B/M nominal roll for the 13th King's in Burma. Somewhere on the forum we had a quick discussion a while back, on what B/M actually stands for, Believed Missing and so on.
Hi, There are several examples of "Missing " files in the gallery section of the forum - forum member DBF (Diane) has uploaded the full Welsh Guards BEF file which shows the lengths the War Office Casualty Dept in Liverpool went through as late as in 1942 to try any trace information about the sad demise of missing personnel. Hi, Here is a link to 1st Battalion Irish Guards Anzio missing personnel file posted in the gallery of dbf. 1st Battalion Irish Guards, Italy, Missing Personnel file | WW2Talk STEVE
Thanks Steve. I believe that Fusiliers Fisher, Owens and Sharratt were lost on Monte Spaduro, where the 2 Lancs. Fus. were stationed from November '44 until 12 February '45, but really need the missing statements 'in B/M's' to find out what the circumstances were. Having looked at the link you gave me, I don't think that a list of that kind would have anything to add. Regards Vitellino
