    Hello all,

As well as my interest in 418/125th LAA Regt. RA, I would also like to find if anyone has unit diaries for 2 DCLI for 1943/1944 as my great uncle served with them at monte casino.

Also, my partners grandfather was an armourer with 55 Sqn RAF in the western desert, through malta and into Italy and she would love to find out more about that squadron if any one has any squadron diaries?

thanks to all for reading this post and helping out :)

    Chris.

I am a battlefield guide for Cassino and so have a lot of stuff on 2 DCLI. Send me a PM with your email address and I will happily share with you what I have.

2 DCLI were in 10 Infantry Brigade which was part of 4 Infantry Division for the Fourth Battle of Monte Cassino in May 44.

2 DCLI had the task on the night of 11 May 44 of providing all the boat rowing parties that got 1/6 East Surreys and 2 Bedfs & Herts over the River Rapido. They also provided one Rifle Company, D Company, to mount a diversionary attack across the river on the left of the attack.

It is quite a story. If you ever want to see the ground, do get in touch. Cassino is quite something.

    Regards

    Frank

Regarding 55 Squadron - check out the 55 Squadron association website at 55squadronassociation@jimdo.com There is a "Where are they now" section there and you can mail in your request to the web master including details and photos if available.
    Good luck.
