Good Morning, Happy Easter to all. Would appreciate help and advice. I am wanting to buy my uncle Harry,s army record but cannot find his army number. I have 2 prints of him, first DRUMS 1st Bn Wilts Reg Singapore 1935, everyone named. Retreat Parade Bangalore 29 June 1937. 1st Bn Wilts stayed in India in WW2. Family folk law says Harry was wounded in Normandy. Could he had been transferred to another Reg, say 4th, 5th Wilts? Have both 1st and 2nd Reg war diaries from Wardrobe, no indication of WW2 Service Numbers. Pte HENRY {Harry} CHEESMAN . Many Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You don't need his army number to apply for his records from the MOD; however you will need his FULL date of birth. Just apply as his next of kin. They should find his army records from his DOB.

If he was wounded he should be listed in the Casualty Lists.
Some members on here could look him up for you.
