    Hi,
I am researching Major H O Groves RA who served with the 1st Fd Regt RA during WW2 and as the acting Commanding Officer in Palestine during Oct/Nov 1946. Does anybody have a copy of the war diaries as I would like to know if he is mentioned at any stage by name?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

You would expect to find a Major well documented in a RA war diary so I think it's fairly safe to assume he'll get a mention or three, especially if he was a battery commander..

    Rick.

1 Fd Regt RA supported 4 Indian Division for almost all of the war so I would be interested to know if he was a Battery Commander serving with them during the Division's time at the Second and Third Battles of Cassino.

    Regards

    Thanks Guys,
his medal entitlement is 1939/45, Africa with 1st Army clasp, Italy stars, Defence, war medals and General Service medal 1918-62 with clasp "Palestine 1945-48". So I would imagine he may well have seen action at Cassino. Hopefully the WD may reveal more information.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Hi, I have pictures of Palestine (Alexandria, Jordan, Jaffa, Jerusalem and various scenery they passed) from 1938/39 from my grandfather's album of his time stationed out there (3rd Battalion Coldstream Guards), if you're interested in seeing them let me know.

He's not on the officer list for 1 Field Rgt for November 41, if that helps.

    All the best
