    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone in the group has any photographs of this regiment?
My grandfather Pte. Alfred Ames was in this regiment at Gibraltar, Italy and then Palestine.
The family only have a couple of photographs of him in his uniform and would love to find any others.

I have seen a photograph on the Hertfordshire Museum website of the regiment in Italy, we believe my grandfather is 3rd row up from the bottom and the 4th person from the left. I've contacted the museum to see if there was a chance of getting a clearer image of that person, but so far I've had no response from them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Paul

    Hi.
I have the official history of the Beds and Herts (which covers the Herts regiment). I’ll have a scan for photos.

When I was researching I went to the Council library where they have their own archive. They had photos from the training depot in Beford, not sure your man will be there as the Herts regt was TA if I remember correctly?

    Hi Alex,

I'm not sure that my grandfather would have trained at Bedford, originally when he joined the army he was in the Suffolk Regiment for training December 1941 to April 1942 then he was transferred to the Hertfordshire Regiment.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Paul
