    Hi,
Would anyone be able to shed any light on the whereabouts/activities of the 1st Y+L Regiment, from October 1944 onwards? Any contribution appreciated.
    Cheers
    Steve

    They were in 5th Div.
    Here's this for starters.
I have 5th Div history upstairs , I'll add more info later.

Here's Chapter 14 from The Fifth British Division 1939-1945 by George Aris.

They'd spent time training, playing sports & going on leave in various places in Palestine & Syria in the second half of 1944.

    That great, cheers Owen.
The reason I asked was that I have a medal group, with some paperwork, to someone who transferred from the RA to the 1st York and Lancs on the 26th October 1944. He previously served in N Africa and Italy. So it looks like he got his France and Germany Star by the skin of his teeth.

    All the best
