Hi - There are no lists of soldiers evacuated from France. There are some sketchy ones of those captured in the way of Missing Men files but nothing for those evacuated.

A copy of his service records will tell you when he went to France and as near as you will find when he returned home.

Thanks Drew for replying. I applied to the APC in Glasgow for a copy of his service record but they came back saying that they couldn't find them. I gave them his full name and Regimental Number. This has left me rather stumped for now.

Was it some time ago or quite recently that you applied? They are a lot better now than they used to be.

Markaluge, were you able to supply APC in Glasgow his Date of Birth? What are his full forenames and where was he born?

It was earlier this year that I applied. I will need to check, but I'm sure I gave his Regimental Number and full name, but perhaps not his DOB. I have been meaning to reapply and will make a determined effort to do so.
    Thanks guys.

Hi, what book are these photographs from, I am looking for information on the 1st Battalion Royal Scots in particular what happened at Colonne on 21 May 1940, researching a family member who was captured that day and spent 5 years as a pow, I have seen Mj Bruce's war diary, is that the most information anyone can get about that day?
    Kind regards
    Jennifer

    Hello,
A couple of years ago, I tried to find out about a family member who had perished in Hong Kong with the 2nd Bn, but looked through my notes to see if there was anything perhaps of use to your quest. Oh, if only we had looked and asked 25 years ago .....!

The Regimental History book may be the best you will find, outwith snippets of personal recollections such as at:
    Iain Laird's Family History Project
and others, some of which may be handed down like:
BBC - WW2 People's War - Le Paradis: The murder of 97 soldiers in a French field on the 26/27th May 1940

If you see below, Martin Gibson reminds us that there are few left who were there:

    and John Errington:

    sadly passed last year.

    Some other pieces appear on:
    The Royal Scots
and in formal works such as the late Bob Paterson's:

    and

I haven't done a trawl of past editions of the Regimental Journal, The Thistle, where recollection articles often appear, but someone might have a listing ....

If I come across anything perhaps more useful, I'll post it here.
