    Rob,
    He's 2nd Bn yes but that was in 1937!!!
    Doesn't mean he didn't get posted to 1st Bn afterwards.

    I have just come accross a letter saying that at the outbreak of war he was CSM of D company 1st Battalion Royal Fusiliers.

    I see from the list he is down as 2nd Battalion RF. not 1st. So that now puts him here then;

    If he was in either surely he would have got the Italy star as both 1st and 2nd were at Monte Cassino but he didnt he got France Germany Medal !!! Im sending of for his records hopefully this week and waiting for a couple of other leads to come back, thanks everybody for their help.:D:D:D

    I bet we find out he spent most of the war as an instructor!
