    Hi All

I am currently collating information on this battery with the intention of writing a book about its activities during WW2. The main focus of the book will be Arnhem.

Apart from information I am looking for a photograph of Major Bill Arnold who was OC of the battery.

If anyone can help me with any information, documants or photos that they would be willing to let me have copies of I would be very grateful. Anyone who did would be acknowledged in any publication of mine that the information is used in.

Looking forward, hopefully, to hearing from anyone who can help.

    Cheers

    Arnhem

Best of luck with the project i look forward to the book - about 10 years ago I heard of and met a bloke called Nigel Simpson (I think) who had written a book on the battery and I saw his copy but never heard any more. I think he was gonig to call it The White Lanyard - I've also heard that he gave one of the two draft copies of his book to a Dutchman called Reindeers. Perhaps one of these two people could help if you can track either of them down.

It could possibly be Philip Reinders ...?

Thanks to everyone who answered. I will try and track down a copy of the book written by Simpson.

Good luck with that. I've been after a copy for several years, but they appear to be a rare item to get hold of.

I did hear only two copies are 'available' and I think it will be difficult to even see a copy.....

Only two copies were made I believe. One was kept by the author, Nigel Simpson and he gave the other one to a friend of his. Unless Nigel Simpson can be tracked down the chances of ever seeing a copy are almost certainly nil. Sorry to be so negative :( ............

A friend of mine allowed me to scan this page from the Arnhem Club newsletter....It may be of use....Does someone have some good images of the 17 pounder at the Museum to send him?

    How is your research/book progressing?
I would be interested to learn if you have come across 1154969 Gunner Griffith Efion Williams who was wounded at Arnhem but evacuated.
