I am trying to find out where the 19th LAA Regiment RA was stationed in WW2; I know at one point it was somewhere near Oban or Fort William, Scotland. Please could anyone tell me anything that you know? Many thanks, Tierney
There's at least 4 war diaries at the national archives that will list all of the units locations through the war. 19 Light Anti-Aircraft War Diaries
Hi Here is an overall guide, but Andy is right, the diaries have the answers- RA 1939-45 19 LAA also do you know about this place- The Royal Artillery Museum - Firepower - Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, London, UK regards Robert
I looked at the war diaries listed at the National Archives. Looks like 19 LAA were in the UK for the entire duration of the War.
Thank you ramacal, do the war diaries list towns etc,? I am interested in visiting the area and want to know where to visit. Will I need to go to National Archives or can I see the details online? Thanks to everyone who has sent links etc very interesting.

Some diaries are more detailed than others with some giving an address of the building occupied to the other end of the scale of just the town/city. The diaries can be a bit hit and miss and you never know what you are going to get until you look inside. They may even contain a sketch map with the gun locations. You can either view the diaries and copy them in person at the National Archives at Kew or pay someone to copy them for you-If you want me to copy them for you drop me a PM as I offer forum members a copying service. Cheers Andy
Hi Tierney, As Drew5233 (Andy) has replied, it can be pot luck with any war diary. Some are loaded with information others are not. Cheers - Rob
