    I am after any more details on Alan LOCKERIDGE. From what I know he joined RE Supplementary Reserve ar a Militiaman 27.6.39

    Mobilized 2.9.39
    Overseas Service BEF 21/10/39- 07/06/40
    North Africa and Central Mediterranen Forces 12/11/42- 07/03/44

    Medals 39/45 Star Africa Star with 1st Army Clasp, Italy Star and 39/45 War Medal.

    Killed in Action 07/03/1944

    I have a picture of Alan 2nd SAS W Sqn c/o HQ 8th Army. Photograph for the Intelligance Group.

    In have letters from SAS Accociation from 1985.

    Pals can you please give me any more information? How he died what was he doing etc

    Think I am right in suggesting that one of the Squadron Leaders at the time of this death was Major Roy Farran DSO - 3 M.C's etc - and that there maybe something in the war diaries to point out how he was lost as at that time they

    were fiddling about in the Adriatic...

    From the description of the Operation - the rail lines of Ancona - Rimini were near enough to the coast to be a nearly simple operation - but the other Urbano - Fabriano was a bit of a trek from

    the coast and would have been much more tricky in March '44 as it was well occupied - until the August when the Gothic Line Battle started
