    Adam.

No problems with regards my email.

Herrn Bachstein is a real mr Fix it for me and helps out the Legion whenever he can in his capacity as head of the Reservists in our area.

I am very confident that we have a postive result.

    Regards
    Tom

    Good lord.
Tom, you and your mate are 'the men'.
I'll email 'Chantry', but hopefully she'll pick up on the thread in the meantime.
(is it OK if I pass on your email to her?).

If this proves to be the right target found then I'm genuinely impressed.
Isn't the Internet an odd thing?..
Forget the internet, isnt this place a site and a half??? :D

Hardly a prophet Tom. If our man in Berlin could not crack this one, then who could with your RBL contacts.

If this is indeed the daughter, wouldn't that be an amazing Xmas/New Years present.

    Regards - Robert
    Robert,

    You are a Prophet:D.

My retired Bundeswehr Officer and friend has just contacted me to say that he been speaking to a lady who we believe to be the daughter of Otto Stoiber.

She has confirmed the details of the Australian POW Camp and we are 99.9% certain that this is the Next of kin.

He is providing all the details for me on our next Wednesday meeting at the Legion.

I will then pass these on to Adam, who has the details of the holder of the letter and both parties should be able to liase with each other.

    Regards
    Tom

This afternoon I have received a letter from my friend Winfried regarding all the details of Otto Stoiber's daughter in order to pass on to Jo.

Sadly Otto passed away 17 years ago but the daughter would be very pleased to receive the letter.

I have sent all the details and a copy of Winfrieds letter by email to Jo and I hope very soon the letter will be reunited with a member of the family.

My grateful thanks to Winfried and the Army Reservists in the "Lahn" area who made this happy ending possible.

    Regards
    Tom

Let's hope it doesn't get lost in the post on the way back to Germany.

Let's hope it doesn't get lost in the post on the way back to Germany.

That has just brought back painful memories of my fathers original army papers lost in the Postal Black Hole between Lancashire and Berlin:(

    Better luck this time.:)

Just received an email from Jo who has been abroad for the last three months.

After sending the letter to the nok, she is more than a little disappointed at not receiving a reply.

    Hi Tom,

I take it nothing further has been heard?

I've had similar disappointments re the 'mystery plaque' and '1943 Diary', either no further contact or just no response at all.
Very strange, you would think people would be interested in their family history, perhaps some are just not interested or it opens some unpleasantness.

    Andy/Mike,

No, nothing further was heard from the recipient, but I know it was received.

We perhaps always assume that the recipients of information are likeminded and that they too are interested in their recent history, but unfortunately this is not always the case.

We just have to be content that the letter was eventually returned to the family.

    Regards
    Tom
