1914-1918 Training

    My grandfather spent 3 months in the Kings Royal Rifles in 1915, would this have been entirely training? when he got kicked out for being only 14 he joined the east surreys immediately and spent 9 months with them, his records survived and they say he went straight to 3rd battalion and was quickly posted to the 8th, does that mean he did no training and went straight to France?

    I'm trying to piece together his military history in WW1....

    If his service record is on ancestry it would be a good idea if you posted his name and number etc so we can take a look at his records and help to try to interpret them for you. :)

    As far as I can find I can only see the East Surreys Documents are the only ones on Ancestry, following details were found on a document by a friend of mines, who kindly wrote it all down and didn't photo copy it:

    His name is John Arthur Baxendale, he went by Arthur Baxendale

    6th April 1915 -27th July 1915
    Kings Royal Rifles
    Discharged, mis-statement of age.

    30th July 1915 - 6th April 1916
    East Surrey Regiment. Regimental No 9977 (Available on Ancestry)
    5th January 1916 Dover Military Hospital for 51 days with scarlet fever.
    24th February 1916 discharged to furlough (leave).
    6th April 1916 Discharged, mis-statement of age.

    27th September 1917 - 20th December 1917
    Lancashire Fusiliers
    20th December 1917 transfered to Royal Engineers.
    Royal Engineers. Regimental Number 348361
    January 1919 demobolized

    8th August 1919 -16th February 1920
    Kings Royal Rifle Corps. Regimental Number 51210
    12th November 1919 Military Hospital, Cannock Chase, Rugely Camp, Staffordshire.
    16th February 1920 discharged surplus to military requireme
