Hi I'm after info about this particular time whilst 175 squadron was based here. As my grandfather was taken to hospital on the 26th October and transferred to no 8 RAF general hospital in which he spent a month. We know at some point he was left for dead and then spotted. And Volkel received an attack from the Germans, do these dates collide. My grandfather was an LAC and worked on the typhoons.
J - the below link leads to a thread discussing how to download SQN ORB (Operational Record Books) for any specified period. For a few quid you should be able to download the ORB for October 1944 to see what happened and if your GF was wounded in action then he should be named alongside the other casualties. You might have to download two files - one will be the actual ORB detailing daily activities and the other will contain annexes such as casualty reports etc. http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/37124-raf-squadron-orbs-digitised-by-tna/
