Hi, was wondering if anyone had any information on 17/21st Lancers peace troops who served in Palestine 1945-1948. My uncle William Cantley No 19019692 was killed alongside fellow soldiers on April 15 1948. They were on patrol and the truck was blown up. Was hoping someone may have a living relation who served at the same time and possibly knew him. General information about those troops would be much appreciated. Kind regards Linda

The Regimental Magazines for the period are available on DVD from the QRL Museum the QRL are shortly amalgamating with the 9th/12th Lancers leaving only one Lancer Regiment in being.
Linda The 17/21st were in Austria with 16/5th lancers when the 6th Armoured Division was broken up in 1946 - both they and 16/5th then went off to Palestine and 16th - to Lybia in early 1947 - shortly after I left Austria in March 1947 Cheers
