Anyone point me towards what might have happened next, please? One of mine was a Sergeant with them at, that time. Curious about him and what might have become. Cheers
Cheers, Rob. That's one thing more than I knew anyway Sorry I took so long responding. I never thought to Subscribe to this Son of the chap in question ended up in the Para's. I'd be interested to draw the link down, between father and son. Thus every little could help.
Steve, Several years ago I wrote an unpublished history of this Battery, from its creation in 1757 through to its current incarnation as 22 (Gibraltar 1779-83) Battery. Copies are held by the Battery, the National Army Museum, Imperial War Museum and National Maritime Museum. The unit returned from India in 1933, and later saw action (as 14/16 Medium Battery) at Dunkirk and in the North African and Italian campaigns. I myself served in the Battery between 1988-91. Best wishes. Andrew Jones.
