Formerly 9th Bn The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment. New title 28 July 1942. Unit retained RWK cap badges.

10 September 1942 move to Pontefract to join 79th Armoured Division.

WO166/11123

8 April 1943 Transfer to 9th Armoured Division.
May 1943 Regiment has 54 Armoured Cars, 43 Scout Cars and 82 Motorcycles.
June 1943 notification that Regiment is to disband, draft of 350 Other Ranks transferred to various Regiments of the Reconnaissance Corps.
